Cable has gotten off to a decent start, putting on around half a cent in early European trading, presently at 1.7960. The greenback is generally weaker vs the majors (usd/jpy something of an exception, being pretty steady.) The market has a raft of U.K. data/surveys etc to mull over this morning. At 9.30 local time BOE publishes the minutes of the September 3-4 MPC meeting. The vote split is generally expected to have been 1-7-1. Also at 9.30 is the release of u.k. unemployment for August. The consensus is calling for jobless claims to have risen 23k, bringing claimant count rate to 2.8% from 2.7% in July. Later at 11.00 local time we have the release of the latest CBI industrial trends survey for September, with the industrial trends balance seen -13.
