Canada wants to be ready with an immediate response

From a Canadian source cited by Reuters:

  • Given Trump's comments on a trade war, Canada not taking anything for granted in terms of an exemption
  • Looking at what sanctions it could retaliate with, including those that could apply immediately
  • Ottawa doesn't want to commit to sanctions until it has "absolute clarity" on US moves
  • Will be making "many calls" to US in next few days

You would think they would have made a plan earlier.
