CNBC has been pounding on some study forecasting 2.5 mln job losses if any one of the Big 3 automakers went bankrupt. maybe, but who knows? There would surely be a multiplier effect with subcontractors being badly hurt and downstream suppliers being crippled along with collateral damage like retailers in the effected area. The potential impacts are staggering, but it would also be very difficult to calculate in any way. Of course it is an auto lobby that has put out the study, the scare the Dems into a bailout. They can pretty much cash the check, we’d suspect.
