Italy's president is reported to have summoned Carlo Cottarelli for a meeting
Suggestions here is that Mattarella may ask Cottarelli to head a technocrat government after Five Star and Lega abandoned plans to form a coalition government over the weekend. Though the idea of a technocrat government probably won't go down well with the rest of the other political parties too - and they'd much rather want early elections.
