I'm expecting the August trade data from China today

A lot of the calendars are listing it as 'tentative' for today, but from what I hear, its today.

What time? Well, from memory 'the weekend' seems to be a good answer ... :-D

But .... look for it at 0200GMT,or a few minutes after. The release time is a bit 'flexible'.

China trade balance:

  • expected is $48.00bn, prior was $43.03bn

Exports:

  • expected is -6.6%, prior was a very sharp drop from the previous month's reading, and well below expectations at -8.3%

Imports:

  • expected is -7.9%, prior was -8.1%

There are often doubts expressed about the veracity of Chinese economic data ... keeping this in mind ... the recent flow of data has been strongly indicative of a slowing economy. Which, of course, is keeping a weight on the AUD.
