EU’s Dijsselbloem is laying the smack down on France by saying that sanctions are one of the options that can be imposed on France if they fail to meet budget targets.
The EU is well known for acting tough on those who miss targets and have imposed such prior strong punishments as, doing nothing, writing strongly worded letters and letting countries miss several adjusted targets whilst moaning about it.
Sanctions are likely to include less canapes and only a junior hotel suite at euro group meetings.
