European stocks playing catch up to Wall Street yesterday

  • Eurostoxx +0.6%
  • Germany DAX +1.0%
  • France CAC 40 +0.8%
  • UK FTSE +0.8%
  • Spain IBEX +0.6%

European equities closed in the red yesterday with decent losses but we're seeing all of that reverse to start the day, in an effort to match the late surge in US stocks overnight.

The risk mood is slightly better to start the session with bond yields tracking higher now, US 10-year yields are up by ~2 bps to 1.752%. Meanwhile, US futures are also up by ~0.1% and that is keeping markets more steady on the day.

USD/JPY is also around 109.58 now with gold tracking to session lows around $1,558.70.
