–Says Reform Will Start Cutting Budget Deficit As Of 2013
LONDON (MNI) – France’s plans to reform its pension system will
boost growth and help cut the budget deficit, Finance Minister Christine
Lagarde said today.
Speaking on Bloomberg, Lagarde stressed that President Nicolas
Sarkozy is determined to push ahead with his proposal to raise the
retirement age.
Lagarde said that the reform would have a two-fold beneficial
impact on the economy and public finances, boosting growth as of 2011
and helping to cut the budget deficit as of 2013.
