FT: EUs Barnier tells EU ambassadors that he expects Brexit talks to extend beyond October 15-16 summit

An FT source is saying the EU's Barnier has told EU ambassadors that he expects Brexit talks to continue beyond the October 15-16 EU summit.

He adds:

• Asks member states to be flexible on fisheries
• Level playing field remains a big disagreement
• Positive signals from UK a sign they will move

Meanwhile, EUs Michel says:

• EU prefers a deal but not at any cost
• It is time for the UK to put its cards on the table
