As I have been saying this week the opinion polls in the UK are mostly a sideshow. The bookmaker prices have barely budged where they have the conservatives odds on favourites to take power with a clear majority. The sell-off overnight on the back of the televised debates may have had more to do with the ratings agencies. PM Brown is pressuring the Conservatives not to draw back on the stimulus. Some players think the Conservatives will cave in just to win the election. Some of the smart types around say this will cause a certain downgrade from the ratings agencies (immediately after the election)who want to see a definite plan in place to cut down the UK debt.
