Comments by German interior minister, Horst Seehofer

Seehofer says that after the lifting of international travel restrictions on 15 June, he can imagine that it will be possible for people in safe parts of China to enter Germany.

In terms of progress, I would think that will represent a big win for the travel sector if this comes to fruition in the coming month. That said, speeding up the reopening of international borders does come with risks of imported coronavirus cases.

Spain will be among the first to offer a glimpse of that as their borders will start reopening after 15 May, though there will be the requirement for two-week quarantine - at least for incoming travellers between 15 May and 24 May (the end of the state of emergency period).
