BERLIN (MNI) – German federal net new borrowing this year will
amount to some E22 billion, far below the E48.4 billion earmarked in the
2011 budget bill, a senior member of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s
CDU/CSU-FDP coalition said Wednesday

“It will be E22 billion,” the parliamentary budget speaker of the
FDP, Otto Fricke, told Germany’s Phoenix public television.

For the coming year, the government plans federal net new borrowing
of E26.1 billion. The 2012 budget bill is to be passed by the lower
house of parliament, the Bundestag, on Friday.
