BERLIN (MNI) – German Economics Minister Rainer Bruederle on
Thursday said domestic unemployment could soon fall below the level of
three million.
“We are experiencing a not so small job miracle,” Bruederle said in
a government declaration in parliament. “We could soon fall below the
level of three million unemployed.” In June some 3.15 million people
were unemployed.
The minister predicted that the economic recovery will continue
next year. Thus, “even more economic stimulus programs would be the
wrong way,” he stressed. “We won’t do that.”
By exiting the stimulus measures next year and starting a budget
consolidation course, the government will create the leeway for future
tax cuts, Bruederle said.
