BERLIN (MNI) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet Greek
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras next Tuesday in Athens, German government
spokesman Steffen Seibert announced Friday.
“The focus of the talks will be…the situation in Greece itself,
in the Eurozone and current international topics,” Seibert explained.
The meeting will be followed by a joint press conference of the two
leaders, he said.
On Thursday, Merkel will meet European Commission President Jose
Manuel Barroso in Berlin, Seibert said. “It will be an internal exchange
of opinions to prepare the upcoming European Council meeting on October
18 and 19,” the spokesman said.
Samaras warned in an interview with German business daily
Handelsblatt on Friday that Greece would run out of money at the end of
next month if it did not receive the next aid tranche from its European
creditors.
Seibert reaffirmed today that the German government wants to help
stabilizing Greece and keep it in the Eurozone.
