The Halifax HPI Numbers for Jan have just been released (change in the price of homes financed by HBOS) coming in at +1.9% Vs -1.7% expected and -2.2% previous. That gives us a year on year of -17.2% Vs an expected -18.6%.
A much better than expected result.
Cable has reacted by bouncing 40 pips from 1.4405 to 1.4445, with EURGBP falling from 0.8900 to below 0.8880.
