Honda sales slip
Honda sales were down 0.1% in August compared to an estimate of +1.6%.
That's the last of the major automakers to report and with the weak number it pegs the overall results likely very close to the consensus.
Economists polled by Reuters see September sales of 17.3 million vehicles on a seasonally adjusted annualized basis.
The underlying theme in sales is discouting. Ford says it is continuing to see agreessive industry incentives.
September industry incentive spending is tracking at an average $3,923 per new vehicle sold, beating the record of $3,753 from December 2008.
