Yang Hengjun is a dissident and former Chinese diplomat, and an Australian citizen.
He flew into Guangzhou on January 18 and did not front up to a connecting flight to Shanghai.
Concerns are he was detained by Chinese government security officials before boarding the flight to Shanghai. His wife was allowed to fly to Shanghai to look after her child
Yang Hengjun has not been heard from since Friday.
Australia comment:
- "The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is seeking information about an Australian citizen who has been reported missing in China. Owing to our privacy obligations we will not provide further comment," a spokeswoman
