German chancellor Merkel says the euro has stabilized and that it is on a stronger foundation than before the Greek crisis.
There is a grain of truth there as Europe now has a (small) facility to deal with sovereign debt crises (the ESFS) and has made vows to strengthen fiscal oversight, but it is still early days…
EUR/USD is consolidating near the upper end of the days range, now at 1.2628.
