Sarkozy’s UMP got smoked at regional polls over the weekend. As is usually the case, heads had to roll. The first head was the Labor minister, who was replaced by the budget minister, according to the Elysee Palace.
Sarkozy does not have to face the voters until 2012, the lucky duck. It is not a good environment for incumbents anywhere in the developed world, at the moment.
