Cable slides on Guardian report citing Corbyn
- Brexit talks with the government have stalled, Corbyn says
- No agreement on customs union, environment and workers' rights
- Talks stalled due to Conservative party desire for post-Brexit deregulation including pursuing a US trade deal
- Full report
Corbyn said Conservatives aren't willing to embrace a common external policy with the EU.
"The government doesn't appear to be shifting the red lines because they've got a big pressure in the Tory party that actually wants to turn this country into a deregulated low-tax society which will do a deal with Trump. I don't want to do that," he said.
Cable hit a low of 1.3057, down 37 pips on the day. The April 11 low was 1.3050 and that's the next level to watch.
Reading through the story, there is a bit of grandstanding here and the headlines overstate what's happening. Corbyn isn't walking away from talks at all and this isn't a true impasse.
