Trump cleared the deck today

The only thing on the President's public schedule today is his daily intelligence briefing, which is ongoing now.

An interview between Trump and The Economist was just published. The transcript is here. The first question from The Economist: Can we start with the economy? :)

In the interview, he talk about reciprocal trade deals and said that's something that will be key in trade deals. He said NAFTA was one-sided from the Canadian and Mexican standpoint.

He also invented the expression 'priming the pump'

Yes.We have to prime the pump.

It's very Keynesian.
We're the highest-taxed nation in the world. Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?

Priming the pump?
Yeah, have you heard it?

Yes.
Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven't heard it. I mean, I just...I came up with it a couple of days ago and I thought it was good. It's what you have to do.

He also said he liked a VAT tax but that it was a hard sell in the United States.

Spicer is out for the week, so Sarah Sanders will be taking questions at 1:30 pm ET once again.
