Asian investors are quick to forget about the beating US stocks took on Friday

  • Nikkei +0.53%
  • Hang Seng +1.37%
  • Shanghai Composite +0.30%
  • CSI 300 +0.10%
  • ASX 200 +0.30%
  • Kospi +0.48%

I've emphasised this a couple of times last week, markets are quick to forget. A new week begins, and the focus is now on China president Xi Jinping's speech tomorrow at the Boao Forum.

Adam had the primer over the weekend here. Xi is pretty much expected to touch on economic reforms and measures to open up Chinese markets, but the key will be his approach to trade. The general view in the market right now is that Xi will opt not to escalate tensions further with the US.

And that is helping to provide some relief to stocks. S&P 500 futures are also faring better on the day:

Adding to the optimism, earnings season is just around the corner and investors are expecting good news to come from it - and in turn boost stocks up further.
