Reserve Bank of Australia comments on the ASX:
- concerned about recent operational issues affecting chess and ASX's trading systems
- will be working to understand if there are systematic underlying issues at ASX
- replacement system for CHESS needs to be implemented as soon as can safely be achieved
Clearing House Electronic Subregister System and is the computer system used by the ASX to manage the settlement of share transactions. Its replacement system has been dogged by delays. In late October this year another one year delay was announced by the ASX.
