But also see business investment to pick up significantly
A Reuters poll of US economists shows:
- 44 of 50 economists say trade dispute with China to harm US economy and will dull the expected fiscal stimulus boost
- 31 of 50 economists expect business investment pick up significantly this year
- consensus is for 2.8% growth this year, but slowing to 2.4% next year
- Core PCE index would only reach the 2% target in the 3rd quarter and level out to average slightly above that 2% level next year
- Economists expect for rate hikes this year. That is above the 3 from the Fed.
The poll of economists suggests the White House hopes for sustained economic growth about 3% will not be realized, which in turn may spawn future expectations for even bigger budget deficits over the coming years
