Harry Reid, ill-fitting suit and all, says progress has been made toward crafting a deal. He blames McCain for throwing a spanner in the works, though the House Republicans were never of board. Chris Dodd, he of the glorious gray bouffant, says staff continues to work on a draft.
Given that markets have not collapsed today it is fair to say the leverage of the House Republicans is growing not receding. Most thought delay would send the markets reeling today but the so far it has been business as usual.
