Details from the September 2016 US Michigan consumer sentiment flash report 16 September 2016
- Current conditions 103.5 vs 107.5 exp. Prior 107.0
- Expectations 81.1 vs 79.3 exp. Prior 78.7
- 1yr inflation expectations 2.3% vs 2.5% prior
- 5yr 2.5% vs 2.5% prior
Unchanged on last month and the current conditions number doesn't make good reading. They're at the lowest since Oct 2015. The slightly softer inflation expectations won't go unnoticed by the Fed either, though they are still up above the Fed's target.
We might have seen a bigger reaction in the buck it the headline number had fallen below last month's but this one can be a funny data point at times, ignored one month, then jumped on another.
