Economic news and data to watch

The week is still far from done.

Most of the OPEC news is out but there are many conflicting headlines and we could still get a big move in oil.

As for economic data, two reports to watch are due at the top of the hour in US wholesale sales/inventories and the first look at Dec U Mich consumer sentiment. The latter is expected at 97.0 and could be a market mover.

A major event on the Fed calendar is Brainard at 1715 GMT. She often sends out critical signals on monetary policy. A hawkish bent could put markets back in the doldrums.

Baker Hughes, US consumer credit and the weekly CFTC positioning data aren't likely to have an impact but will be notable.
