Flynn met with Justice Dept today

Former Trump national defense advisor Michael Flynn had deep foreign lobbying ties and was specifically singled out by Obama in the transition as a risk. Yet Trump kept him on before it was discovered he had lied to VP Pence about contacts with Russia.

Flynn has been a central target in the FBI investigation and signs are pointing to him cooperating and/or cutting a deal with prosecutors.

The Washington Post today reports that he took a June 2015 trip to Egypt and Israel as part of a partnership with Russians hoping to build two dozen nuclear reactors.

ABC reports that his lawyer met with Robert Mueller's team today and that follows him withdrawing from an information-sharing agreement with Trump's team.

The bigger question for us is whether it will matter. The only trade on Trump-Russia news this year has been to buy the dip. Unless something leaks that will take down the President, then the only thing the market cares about at the moment is a 20% corporate tax rate.

What intriguing is that if Flynn is cooperating, he must be offering up something in exchange. Presumably, that would put someone even higher up in the crosshairs. Who could that be? Kushner? Donald Jr? The President himself?

Another possibility is that Flynn could fall on the sword to protect his son, who he worked with.
