Daily thread to exchange ideas and to share your thoughts
Good day, everyone! Hope you're all doing well as we get things going here on the session. It's been a quiet one to start the European morning with little movement across major currencies as markets are paralysed awaiting for the FOMC meeting later today.
Dollar pairs are mostly holding within 0.1% changes and that pretty much tells you how flat markets are in anticipation of the Fed. I won't expect much to change until we hear from the US central bank so be prepared for a bit more of a lull in European trading today.
As for the Fed itself, this will be one of the more unpredictable meetings with the breakdown in US-China trade talks a few weeks back having helped to lay the groundwork for a more cautious/dovish tone. However, after yesterday's development, will they wait and see for what happens after the G20? Or will Powell & co. eventually bow down to Trump's persistent pressure? The release timing of this report certainly raises a few eyebrows, no?
