Sounds more and more like both sides are dug in

Canada says it won't give ground on cultural protections and Chapter 19 dispute resolution while leaving some room to maneuver on agriculture without dismantling dairy supply management.

I think Canada's prepared to let it blow up at this point and leaving it to Congress or Republican donors to save the deal. It's a gamble but it's also a fight Trump may not want with China looming as a much bigger fish to fry. I mean, does Trump really want to blow up NAFTA to take away dispute resolution panels and Canadian rights to decide local content on television?

You have to think there's a pretty easy path to a deal but I think Canada's drawn some lines it won't cross so Trump will have to bend, and he's not exactly known for that.

In fact, he's just hitting the wires right now saying "we have to make a fair trade deal with Canada."

The separate hot-button issue in Canada is a court blocking the Transmountain pipeline, which will bring Alberta crude to the west coast. Trudeau says the pipeline is going to get built and they might appeal the decision. He's in Alberta today to meet with the Premier.
