No denial from Trump
That's not going to help Trump's love for the media:
Here's a tip, don't make off the record comments at all but if you are going to make them, don't do it about a country when you're hours away from trying to make a trade deal.
Anyway, he's not denying the comments but I also get the feeling he wasn't being entirely genuine when he made them. Canadian officials evidently confronted Lighthizer with them and they've continued to negotiate so clearly there is some give-and-take here but time will tell if it's enough.
