The meeting begins
Reports say there are eight seats for each side at the table. One includes US trade hawk Peter Navarro but there are no reports yet on who the others are.
Before beginning, Trump said he thinks he will end up getting something done that's good for China and good for the United States.
Aside from trade he said that one of the things he will be asked Xi about is criminalizing fentanyl in China.
Xi said that since his previous talks with Trump, lots of things have taken place in the world. He said that only with cooperation can they serve the interest of peace and prosperity.
