John Curtice of Strathclyde University, the 'chief exit pollster'
- says a Conservative majority cannot be ruled out
- Said the methodology for the exit poll was the same as in 2010, when the poll turned out to be very accurate
- Said it looked as if Conservative and Labour gains had canceled each other out across England and Wales
- But Labour had lost much of its support in Scotland to the Scottish National Party
Early results were "in line with the exit poll":
- It projects the Conservatives will get 316 seats - up from 302
- Says the Labour Party will get 239 seats - down from 256
