The opposition Labour Party in the UK will 'support the charter' of the Conservative government on budget surplus goals.
Labour's finance spokesman John McDonnell spoke on Saturday with The Guardian:
- "We will support the charter. We will support the charter on the basis we are going to want to balance the book, we do want to live within our means and we will tackle the deficit"
Note:
- The 'charter' sets a goal of eliminating the budget deficit by 2019/20
- And to run budget surpluses, in 'normal times' from then on
McDonnell speaking ahead of this week's Labour conference.
