UK May mortgage approvals came in at +43,414, below the median forecast of +46,000. Net mortgage lending came in at +£0.324 bln, substantially below median forecast of +£1.0 bln, and a record low.

The numbers have knocked cable back, presently down at 1.6490 from around 1.6515 post release.

Meanwhile net consumer credit for May came in at +£0.3 bln, exactly in line with the median forecast.
