Latest data released by Halifax on UK housing 7 Dec 2017
- 3-month house prices rise 3.9% on the year
According to Halifax, house prices in the last three months (September - November) were 2.4% higher than in the previous quarter (June - August). This is the fastest price growth, on this measure, since January.
On a monthly basis, the rise in November is the fifth consecutive monthly rise. Meanwhile, the average house price is GBP 226,281 which is 3.2% higher than that in January.
Not one to distract the spotlight away from Brexit talks, but home sales hitting highest levels for the year is surely something interesting.
GBP/USD will not be too phased by the numbers though, focus is still solely on Brexit right now. The pair is trading at 1.3380 now, as we await more "progress" talks from the UK/Irish camps.
