Highlights of the August US housing starts report:
- Prior was 1093K (revised to 1117K)
Starts were expected to fall in August after a big 15.7% jump in July (revised to 22.9%) but not fall by that much. The month-over-month decline was 14.4%.
It’s hardly a sign of a slumping housing market but any hopes for a sudden surge in building are probably misplaced.
