In a heads up for inflation watchers, FedEx has notified on impending price hikes for their services
- FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and FedEx Freight, will increase shipping rates effective January 4, 2016
- FedEx Express will increase shipping rates by an average of 4.9% for U.S. domestic, U.S. export and U.S. import services
- FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery will increase shipping rates by an average of 4.9%. FedEx SmartPost rates will also change.
- FedEx Freight will increase shipping rates by an average of 4.9%.
One of the major planks of those saying the Federal Reserve will not hike rates is that 'there is no inflation'. If you watch the official CPI data you'd be hard pressed to argue against this point of view.
I don't know how much a (in general) 4.9% price hike from FedEx will feed into inflation data, but there it is.
