S&P trades 2600 for the first time ever. Yippee.
The major US stock indices are closing at record levels and with solid gains:
- The S&P index is closing up 16.92 points or 0.66% at 2599.05. The high price traded up to 2601.19. The low reach 2589.17
- The NASDAQ composite index is closing up $71.76 or 1.06% at 6862.47. That is just off the high price of 6862.66. The low fell to 6820.02.
- The Dow industrial average is closing up at 160.5 points, up 0.69% at 23590.83. The high reach 23617.80. The low stalled at 23500.
Big tech has good gains today:
- Apple rose 1.86%
- Facebook rose 1.75%
- Alibaba rose by 1.54%
- Alphabet rose 1.51%
- Microsoft rose by 1.44%
- Amazon rose by 1.17%
- Netflix rose by 1.10%
- Nvidia rose by 0.92%
- Intel rose by 0.72%
After the close HP Enterprise announced earnings:
- Revenues came in at 7.66 billion versus 7.77 billion
- Earnings-per-share came in at $.44 versus $.44 estimate
- Meg Whitman HPEs CEO announced that she will step down effective February 1, 2018.
- The stock is down $.63 or -4.46% at $13.49.
