Nasdaq closes off lows
The US major stock indices are ending the day mixed but off the lows:
- The S&P index is closing up 1.71 points or 0.06% at 2839.25. That is near midpoint of the day's trading range (low 2830 and high at 2848). It is a record close.
- The Nasdaq index is closing down -3.895 points or -0.05% at 7411.16. The high reached 7458.53. The low extended to 7388.58 before the end of day rally.
- The Dow was the overachiever. It rose 140.67 points or 0.54%. The index closed at 26392.79

Intel reported after the close earnings of $1.08 versus $.86 estimate. Revenues also beat. The stock closed at $45.30 down -$.21 or -0.46%. It is trading currently at $46.94 in after-hours trading
