Three things that won’t motivate Congress to end the government shutdown:
- 800K Americans losing pay
- Every American losing access to services
- The economic well-being of the USA
One thing that will motivate them to make a deal:
- Polls blaming one party or the other
One from Quinnipiac University shows a margin of 77% to 22% oppose Congress “shutting down major activities of the federal government” to delay Obamacare. I’m not sure that one moves the needle, the public already despises Congress. What we need is a poll where the public blames one party or the other. Obama is speaking in an hour, we know which side he’ll blame.
