May to face another vote on Wednesday

Theresa May's government faces a confidence vote on Thursday. It will come just after 1900 GMT.

The DUP and ERG have already said they will support her and she is expected to win. However it's not something that should be taken for granted. There are always a few politicians who are looking to stab her in the back to advance themselves.

It would basically be an 'own-goal' but there's a chance.

A failed confidence vote in many Westminster systems leads directly to an election but the UK changed the rules in 2011. The government now has 14 days to regain the confidence of the House before a general election.

That time could be used for May to resign and someone to take her place. The thing is, she doesn't need to quit and can't be forced out because she won her leadership vote and can't be challenged again for a year.

In any case, it will be a much closer vote than the one we had today.
