Let’s hope we can take Rahm Emanuel at his word. He tells CNBC that that the role of government in business (like banks and the automakers) is much larger than normal, but that role is transitional only.
There is some doubt as to the veracity of that statement as many of the TARP banks would like to pay back the capital but are not allowed to at present, for the good of the “system”.
