Neel Kashkari is President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
Speaking at a town hall event, answering questions from the audience
- Does not see signs that the US economy is close to overheating
- Does not see inflation taking off, no need to tap brakes
Kashkari with his usual less than hawkish take on the economy so far.
More:
- Believes there is slack in the labour market not counted in national stats
- Fed should be under no pressure to raise rates, there is time for inflation to rise back to target
If Kashkari keeps this sort of 'no hike' commentary up he is going to be in the running to be the new Federal Reserve Chair ... this is music to the ears of the US administration. Amiright?
