Comments from Reserve Bank of Australia policy board member John Edwards on China.

I posted earlier on Edwards' comments on what he says needs to be done to tackle Australia's budget deficit: RBA's Edwards says new PM, Treasurer must fix the budget deficit in Australia

That's from a Wall Street Journal interview.

In the same piece, Edwards spoke on China, he reckons concerns are exaggerated:

  • "I think the risks are being overplayed at the moment. When I look at the flow of Chinese data over the last six months, really nothing much has changed
  • We knew China was slowing down. It is probably slowing down toward 6 per cent growth in a few years. But, if I can put it like this, the slowdown has been slow"
