The Australian employment data report for March is here .... and what a cracker it was!
Bloomberg with a bit of a recap ... and they are not quite as sanguine:
In February, the Australian Bureau of Statistics included estimates that were rebenchmarked to the latest population estimates. Today's data will incorporate annual seasonal changes.
"While we would expect that the ABS is taking due care to ensure they don't publish an extraneous number, there have been a number of changes in the way the ABS conducts supplementary surveys within the Labor Force Survey so we should remain prepared for the possibility of a surprising monthly print," Westpac Banking Corp. economists said in a research report prior to the release.
I still reckon that was a very good report.
Check out the graph from ANZ of the trend in unemployment recently, flattening instead of steadliy gaining.
Also this one of the recent employment numbers ... that's moving the right way too.
