Business conditions have another leap higher, to 19 in January (long term average is 5)

  • Profitability to 23 (up 9 points on the month)
  • Sales 26 (up 8)
  • Employment 6 (unchanged on the month)
  • Conditions solid across all major industry groups (except retail)
  • Rising capacity utilisation a positive sign for investment says NAB (82.7 in Jan from 82.3 in Dec.)

  • We are hopeful that Australia will see stronger economic growth in coming quarters, due to the strength in the labour market, business activity and infrastructure spending
