The Bank of England interest rate decision is due at 11.00 GMT, with no-one expecting anything other than an unchanged verdict keeping rates at 5%. Yesterday, the Times MPC voted 7-2 to keep rates unchanged, but the pressure on the BOE to cut rates intensifies by the day especially after rate cuts from the Aussie and Kiwi central banks boldly acting pre-emptively in thface of inflationary headwinds. Expect no change today, but when inflationary pressures abate the Bank of England will have to move swiftly as the economy slips into recession.
