These comments have been highlighted several times on these pages today but for traders in North America who may have missed them, they bear watching.
Chinese premier Wen called on Washington to protect the value of Chinese investments in the US. Wen pinned the blame on the US for the global crisis, highlighting its over-consumption. This strikes me as a bit like a heroin pusher chiding a client for a lack of self control and is one reason why the dollar has weathered the comments without much difficulty.
