CANADA DATA: Canada’s trade surplus increased to C$351 million in March,
from C$273 million in February, on imports declining more than exports.
Merchandise exports were down 0.4% to $39.5bln, with prices falling 1.3%
and exports of energy products leading the decline. Imports decreased
0.6% to $39.1bln with prices down 2.3%, and lower imports of energy
products as well as industrial goods and materials.
CANADA DATA: New Housing Price Index (NHPI) rose 0.3% m/m in March,
+2.6% y/y, after a similar result for February. The top contributors
Toronto and Oshawa, Edmonton, and Calgary were offset by decreases in
Vancouver and Victoria.
